Gardens for all

We work on all kinds of gardens, large and small. From small courtyard gardens to large grounds, we have the knowledge and expertise to transform any outside space into a green and pleasant oasis. Each project presents its own particular problems and challenges. With a bit of thought (and often a fair bit of brawn) it's usually possible to overcome them all. Whatever your idea of the perfect garden is, we can help you create it - but what you want may change over time. We have many clients who want in-built flexibility in their garden design and construction, allowing their garden to evolve and adapt to as their needs and desires change. Over the years, some clients have kindly invited us back to two or three times to re-shape and re-plant their gardens.

Courtyard Garden

In small, confined spaces that get limited sunlight, attention to detail is everything.

You need to know which plants will grow where and what to put in that shady patch.

By incorporating garden features, furniture and planters that don't overwhelm it's

possible to create something special in any back yard.

Urban Gardens

If you live in a terraced house, how can you get privacy in the garden without blocking all the light?

If the garden is shared, how can you lay it out so that everyone can have access and privacy?

How about a roof garden? Is the roof strong enough to support one? Which plants are hardy enough

to survive the high winds up there? We've got all the answers.

Suburban Gardens

You may think of the standard lawn with flowerbeds on each side as boring, but to us it's an inviting

blank canvas - horticultural heaven. We can help you create something exciting and unique.

It's often said that the garden should be like another room of the house. Get the design and planting

right and it can be just that - a space (or even several spaces) that you can retreat to and enjoy all year

round, not just in fine weather. Not to mention that a garden with that elusive 'wow' factor can

add significantly more to the value of your home than it costs to create.

Large grounds

If you want to significantly alter the existing lay of the land, you need experienced ground workers on the job. You need people who can sort the topsoil from the subsoil. People who'll make sure there's going to be adequate drainage or, conversely, sufficient irrigation. You need them to know what to do if you unexpectedly unearth hazardous materials or encounter pipes and cables. If there's a new area of hard standing tarmac, concrete or paving in your plans you need people who'll consider whether existing drains will cope with surface-water run-off during our increasingly frequent rainstorms. It's complicated stuff - but that's what we're here for.

Help! It's a jungle out there!

You might have just moved in to a house with an overgrown garden or just let the grass, nettles, brambles and everything else grow under your feet. Either way, just give us a call. We may be expert, professional gardeners and landscapers, but that doesn't mean we don't enjoy scything weeds, clearing undergrowth and hacking back overgrown trees and shrubs. We love a good garden clearance.

Wheelchair-accessible gardens

It is our pleasure to bring the pleasure of being able to potter around in the garden to those with mobility problems. Raised flower beds and wide, low gradient paths with smooth, anti-skid surfaces are just two of the things we can do to make even sloping gardens accessible to all. It nice to be able to sit in the garden, but it's even nicer to be able to plant and prune and tend to the flowers and plants.

Speciality gardens

Child-safe gardens

If you have kids on the way (or grandchildren coming round) you'll want to make your garden or grounds safe and enjoyable for young children to play in. We can help by doing a risk assessment and getting rid of biting pests, making prickly plants safe, replanting those with poisonous leaves safely out of reach, constructing guards around ponds and greenhouses and so on. The potential dangers to children in your garden may not be obvious you, but an experienced eye can spot them for you.

Gardens for the visually impaired

Blind and partially sited people can enjoy heavily scented plants, textured plants, bright blooms and the soud of certain stems and leaves as they rustle in the breeze.

Theme gardens

A whole garden can be themed, or the theme can be just part of a larger garden.
